j'ai toujours lancé une fenêtre privée par la combinaison Ctrl+Maj+P. Une mention "Navigation privée" est bien affichée tout en haut à droite de la nouvelle fenêtre.

Comme suggéré par Lepoune, j'ai supprimé puis réinstallé Firefox et le problème est résolu : barre de menu et barre d'adresse en noir, indication "Navigation privée" avec masque violet.
